Where I'm Going After Lockdown
Lockdown has been five weeks for me now. One of the things I keep thinking about is where I want to go to when it is safe to go out again. I think when you’re busy with life and work you kind of take for granted places you go to relax or just to do something fun. I think I’m going to appreciate some of my favourite places to go a lot more now. I thought I would share a few of them with you guys.
Alexandra Palace
The view up here is beautiful. You can look out across the whole of London and first thing in the morning when the sun is just coming up it’s so stunning. When I go here for a walk it always makes me appreciate the opportunities I have around me and how lucky I am to be living in London.
Golden Union Fish and Chips
This was my favourite place to go after work on Oxford Street. Honestly the best fish and chips I have ever had and I do count myself as somewhat of a chip connoisseur. It’s really retro inside and is hidden just off one of the main busy streets. It’s lovely to go to for a bit of a reprieve away from the hustle and bustle of central.
Covent Garden
Ever since I started going up to London to take dance classes at Pineapple; I loved a wander around Covent Garden. The cobbles, the market and the little streets it’s like being on the film set version of London. There’s all my favourite shops there and one of the biggest Boots I’ve been in; so perfect for when you want to go and pick up five different face masks too.
Boxpark Shoreditch
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last year. Honestly such a gem of a place. The building itself is made out of refitted shipping containers. Full of bars, independent shops and amazing food places. My highlight was poptata a place that just serves different types of topped chips. As you can imagine I was in my element eating. I cannot express how much I love chips.
Westfield Stratford
I spent most of last year living in East London. During this time my favourite thing to do was pop on a bus for five minutes and go into Westfield. Something about wandering round the shops and having a browse has always really chilled me out when I’m feeling anxious. It’s something that I do really miss doing at the moment; putting my headphones on and just exploring the latest clothes and bath bombs or even going to the cinema.
Black Goo in Tring
An adorable café near my home town. Filled with the type of hipster décor that’s just begging to be put on your Instagram story. I had a pretty horrific morning the day I came here but after spotting this on the high street I decided to go in for a quick bite before my train journey. The scrambled eggs on toast was perfect and helped cheer me up after a rough day. So would definitely love to go back during happier circumstances!
Aqua Springs in Colchester
This place is insane. Whenever I go with my boyfriend to visit his family we always make a point of stopping off here. Essentially for £15 each you can use the spa facilities, pools and jacuzzi’s. This is perfect for people on a budget and trust me I am that person who is very much on a budget. There’s a salt inhalation room, aromatherapy, two saunas and a steam room. All with a cold pool and a hydrotherapy pool too. Just one visit here leaves my skin glowing for the rest of the week. So when you’re ready for a pamper after all this; it is for sure the place to go.
Now these are just some of my favourites; but there’s a lot more around that I love going to. One thing I miss more than anything is going to visit my family and that will be the first I do before any of this. But for now it’s important we stay safe and keep everyone around us safe too.
